Technology implementation

Our technology-oriented design practices - database, e-commerce, content publishing or administration system -- focus on modularity and maintenance, without sacrificing reliability or functionality. We produce a complete Technical Design Document, representing all data structures, data flow, program modules, and deployment specifications before we even think about implementation.

Illumina Interactive has worked with all of the major web platforms. On the browser side, we employ HTML rendered from our designs, incorporating templates, cascading style sheets, libraries, Javascript, and Flash. On the server side, Illumina Interactive has deployed sites using Microsoft IIS on Windows, Apache on Linux or Solaris, and Netscape Enterprise on Solaris. We are able to handle server programming in almost any required environment, including Perl, Visual Basic, Java, C, and C++, using a variety of server technologies such as Java Servlets, XML, Active Server Pages with both Perl and Visual Basic, integrated Apache modules with Perl, and CGI with C++ and Perl.

Our server platforms have connected to a variety of databases, including Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase and MySQL. Furthermore, we have extensive experience working with our clients' IT departments to come up with effective solutions that meet the project manager's goals and the IT departments capabilities and requirements.

We develop to a stringent standard, using source code management tools to provide reliability and reuse, and defensive programming strategies to eliminate security and logic errors before the code is written.
