Led by our founder and president, Michael
Getz, Illumina's seasoned leadership team of e-learning
experts have spent the past two decades developing technology-based
interactive learning solutions for leading companies and
government agencies in life sciences and healthcare, high
technology, and environmental industries.

Michael Getz
President and Founder |
Michael is an accomplished business executive
and award-winning developer of e-learning solutions. As
a creative and technical project director and producer,
Michael has spent more than 20 years in design, programming,
production and management of Internet- and multimedia-based
applications for corporate, industrial and educational markets.
At Illumina Michael has managed development on e-learning
and web-based training projects for companies in a wide
variety of industries, including Boston Scientific, Novartis
Institutes for Biomedical Research, and Covidien, as well
as government agencies such as the National Institutes of
Health, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and Environmental
Protection Agency. Michael brings exceptional knowledge
and expertise in the use of web and multimedia technologies
to address corporate training requirements.
Prior to forming Illumina Interactive in
1997, Michael was Manager of Multimedia Production at Oakes
Interactive (now Click2Learn/SumTotal), where he oversaw
the production of digital video, audio, and 3D graphics
and animation for custom CD- and web-based products for
clients like Hewlett Packard, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care,
Deloitte & Touche, MetLife, Ford Motor Credit, and Prudential
Securities. Previously, he served as Director of Multimedia
Courseware Engineering from 1989-1996 at Interactive Media
Communications, a leading publisher of off-the-shelf multimedia
training programs on OSHA health, safety and environmental
regulatory compliance topics, and from 1986-1989 was a Senior
CBT Courseware Developer at the ELEMEDIA/Olivetti Educational
Technologies Center in Florence, Italy. Prior to that Michael
designed and programmed educational software in mathematics,
English, science, and computer-science fields for K-12 audiences. |

Hal Stokes
Senior eLearning Producer |
Hal Stokes is an award-winning producer
with more than 20 years’ experience creating programs
intended to truly engage learners, using a variety of media,
from film and video through interactive, web- and LMS- delivered
eLearning. His work spans a range from K-12 educational
software to specialized training for noted pharmaceutical
and financial services clients. On his Facebook page, Hal
calls himself a “filmmaker-turned-eLearning producer,”
and he has never strayed far from his roots in creative
media-based story-telling.
Hal has also been lead multimedia producer at Viacom’s
Computer Curriculum Corporation, in Silicon Valley. Among
other highlights there, he produced over four hours of material
for the groundbreaking interactive program, Choosing Success,
which was called “…perhaps the most ambitious
piece of software ever created” by Wired magazine
in 1996. Also at CCC, he wrote and produced a series of
30-second thematic videos that were included in a software-based
curriculum called Reading Adventures, as well as a set of
short, dramatic videos employing a repertory cast of child
actors in a “playhouse” setting to accompany
a software-based curriculum for ESL students.
Prior to joining Illumina Interactive, he produced a suite
of online training courses for financial services giant
State Street Corporation, Boston, as both a consultant and
in-house developer. He also served as eLearning Creative
for Media Electric, Arlington, MA. Rounding out his background
are stints as a Project Manager for Accelera Corporation,
Baltimore, and as Creative Director of Multimedia and Web-based
Learning at Total Learning Concepts, Boston – both
companies that specialized in pharmaceutical sales training. |

Jim Adelson
Alliances |
Jim Adelson works with Illumina Interactive’s partners.
Jim has spent the last decade working on numerous elearning
partnerships in the corporate, government, academic, and
consumer arena, collaborating with a large range of consulting
firms, systems integrators, content companies, and software
developers. Most recently, Jim spearheaded a particular
group of partnerships at SkillSoft; before that, Jim led
alliance programs at assessment software leader Questionmark,
and learning management provider THINQ Learning Solutions.
Jim’s background also includes seven years of alliance
experience at Lotus/IBM, and earlier roles in Marketing
and Product Management. |

Jim Herzig
Business Development |
Jim Herzig oversees new elearning business
development at Illumina Interactive, and brings a wealth
of experience providing business development services to
a number of creative niche service companies -- such as
print and multimedia presentation services as well as video
production services. Prior to joining Illumina Interactive,
Jim was the co-owner of an established Boston-based video
production company creating television spots, programming
for public television, and marketing and industrial videos,
as well as a leading video post-production facility. Jim
is also a published songwriter and an occasional studio
musician. |
